Lower left abdominal pain?

My boyfriend is having pain on his lower left abdomen. It is dull and constant. Also it ranges from right beside his belly button to almost to his side. He also was lightheaded today and has been constipated. The only other problem he has had was bloody stool in April. He went to the doctor and his barium enema came back inconclusive so they said it could have just been a small tear in his colon that healed itself since he hasn’t bled since then. Could the bloody stool be related to this pain and what would this pain be a symptom of?

Pain here often suggests a problem in the lower colon, where food waste is expelled. Possible causes include inflammatory bowel disease or an infection in the colon known as diverticulitis.
