lower abdominal pain groin area
pain below my right hip when playing sports?
I’m not in great shape but I still sometimes play sports with my friends. Besides all the usual soreness this entails that I’d expect (like my quads and shoulders) , I have a particular reoccurring pain that only occurs when I do alot of running while playing sports (it doesn’t bother me any other time).
The pain is about 3 inches below the tip of my right hip on the front of my leg, along the crease where my leg and torso meet. It’s enough that it slows me down. I think I’ve only ever had this pain on the right leg, not the left.
I’m not really sure what is in that area that is causing the pain. Lower abdominal muscle? Upper part of my quad? Upper part of the groin muscle? Ligaments? What kind of stretching and exercise can I do to try to prevent pain in this area from occurring?
Josh, it sounds like you have either a hip flexor or hip adductor problem. I would suggest that you get a referral to see a physical therapist about this. They would be able to treat this and hopefully teach you how to handle it yourself so that it doesn’t return.
