Bad back pain in first trimester, help?

I am 9 and a half weeks pregnant. Before getting pregnant, I saw a chiropractor once a month. I had 2 discs that were slightly degenerated and a mildly curved spine. I quit going to the chiropractor, since I’ve heard it’s best to wait until the second trimester before getting treatment again. I called my doctor and they said it’s normal to get sometimes severe back pain, especially considering I have a history of it. I also had hernia repair right before getting pregnant and I wonder if maybe it’s because of scar tissue moving or something. Also, no spotting or abdominal cramping and no change in urination. I’ve taken Tylenol and it hasn’t helped at all. Any ideas on what else I can do?

Firstly, ignore the previous post about not sitting in a hot bathtub. A hottub no, cos the temperature is way too high, but a bathtub of hot water is okay. Obviously make sure you can sit comfortably in the water, and it isn’t hot enough to burn your skin. But a hot bath is the best thing to relax those back muscles. Tylenol 3 didn’t help me at all. Also, a hot water bottle will help. I had a disc problem too, and pelvic bone pain at the end of my first pregnancy, but this time around the pain has started in the 3rd month, and is almost unbearable, I can barely walk. A hot bath and hot water bottles do help, trust me. Also, sleep on your left side (encourages more blood flow for the baby), and put a pillow between your legs, and pillows behind your back. If you do get further chiropractic treatment, make sure the chiropractor is qualified to treat pregnant patients. Take care.
