lower abdominal pain irritable bowel
lower left I abdominal pain, constipation, and diarrhea after mononucleosis?
In April I got mono. I had a dull abdominal pain during and after a while it had passed. It went away and in June it returned. The difference was it was it got worse during the day and with activity and I had alternating bouts of diarrhea and constipation. More so constipation. In late July I noticed that I getting stomach pain after I eat something and I have diarrhea. I know my great aunt had Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I’m not sure if its that or something else.
Thanks for any and all help.
Mononucleosis is caused by a virus in the herpes family called Cytomegalovirus or CMV for short. CMV infection of the intestinal track can become chronic. People with weak immune systems or strong immune systems suppressed by stress have been known to have intestinal tracks that become chronically infected with CMV. I would suggest you go to a doctor specializing in virology and immunology to have the status of your immune system checked. There is a drug marketed by the pharmaceutical industry for treatment of CMV called Cytovene. This drug has side effects that would in my mind make it a dangerous last resort. I would suggest you first check out an alternative treatment that might be safer for you. BHT or Butylated Hydroxytoluene is a commonly used synthetic food preservative that has been shown to disrupt the envelops of most lipid enveloped viruses. Once the envelope of lipids surrounding a lipid enveloped virus is disrupted the virus becomes dysfunctional and highly inefficient at causing infection.
