Upper Stomach/Back Pain?
Lately I have been having really bad stomach aches and back pain. It happens at night right before I go to sleep. First my stomach gets a little upset and I have gas (burping), then my upper stomach starts burning and gets really bloated and the gas gets worse. Then my upper back starts to hurt, on both sides just under my shoulders. When I sit up both my upper stomach hurts really bad. When I lay down on my back it feels as though most of the pain travels to my back, same if I lay on my stomach, the pain seems to set there. I try taking antacids and gas-x but nothing seems to help. The pain usually lasts a few hours and it really hurts. I am setting up an appointment with the doctor this week but I just want to see if anyone else has experienced this and what I can do to stop the pain.
You are describing pains that may indicate an ulcer. The burning is the giveaway. If antacids don’t work that seems even more. Do get to the doctor – and until you do, drink water, it will help dilute some of the acid. If you have Pepto Bismol, I think a little of that might help. Do not drink any coffee or soft drinks because they have acid in them. GET TO THE DOCTOR SOON. Hope you get to feeling better quick.
