stomach pain burning stress
Stomach – Lower abdomen pains?
I have been really stressed lately, worried, and stomach lower ab area has been irritated, dull pain somewhat burn about 3 inches left of belly button area, it only hurts during the day. I sleep well at night. My doc thought it might be nerves and put me on cymbalta about 4 weeks ago. I really dont feel any different. No vomit, no blood in stool, just loss of apppetite and loose stools. I am also on pain meds for herniated discs. What is this stomach problem. My doc says he doesnt feel necessary to do a colonoscopy yet. Its been goin on for some time. And some days the stomach pain radiates around the belly button area from left to right. Any ideas?
My ct results say this
Mild thickening or prominence of the desecending colon and sigmoid colon may represent mild inflammatory change such as colitis or diverticulitis. Correlate clinically.
Mild enlarged left periaortic lymph node.”
The most likely problem is diverticulitis. Generally speaking this is treated by a soft diet and course of antibiotics. Thereafter a high fiber diet is recommended and colonoscopy done at about 6 weeks after subsidence of the acute inflammation. If you are over 50 you should have a screening colonoscopy in any case. Of course your doctor with his detailed overview of your problem may be considering other possibilites related to the pancreas or even the upper gi tract. I personnally think a colonoscopy is not a bad idea for you.
