How long and how bad are you supposed to feel pain during pregnancy?

I am almost hitting my 7th month of pregnancy and I have felt a few pains in the stomach area.
It’s a menstrual type pain that occurs in the lower stomach and on the sides. And then there’s soreness on the sides.
I was concerned about how long you’re supposed to feel the pains? And also how bad are they supposed to get?
Also if it is actually the uterus, how long would the pains from that last?

Its call Braxton Hicks contractions. Its your uterus getting ready for the birth. They are very similar to real labour pains. It will continue right up until the birth. Dont worry, its completely normal. They usually dont last for very long, less than 1 minute. Lying down or moving around can usually make them disappear. With real labour pains this does not work.
