Stabbing pains near rib cage?

I was lying down this evening when I suddenly experienced pains in my rib cage. Not exactly in my rib cage, more below it. It felt like needles were being pushing into my skin undern my rib cage. Not quite pains, not quite a cramp – just unrelenting right where the rib cage starts.
I also have nausea and a ferocious headache. I am also thirteen, if that matters. I’m just wondering why this hurts! It’s been hurting for about fifteen-twenty minutes. Could I have some insight?
Also, I was lying in bed and I got a pain almost right in that area, but it was dull (the worst kind.) I couldn’t get out of bed and I was crying from it. After about five minutes it left and I was able to get up.
With the stabbing pains it’s about a six in pain levels…not that bad. :)

First of all, if you are nauseous, vomiting, or have loose stools, you could be experiencing the beginning of appendicitis. HOWEVER, you do not need to have all of these symptoms to have appendicitis. If this pain continues, worsens, or concentrates on a single area in your right abdomen (between the front of the right hip bone and the belly button) go to the ER IMMEDIATELY!! Appendicitis can be life-threatening if left untreated. Second of all, if you are a woman, you could have a rupturing ovarian cyst. The only way to determine if you have an ovarian cyst is by getting a CT scan or an ultrasound. If the pain is extreme, this could be a probable cause. Third of all, you simply may be constipated. If this is the case, take Milk of Magnesia or an OTC stool softener. Also, increase your fiber intake. Fourth of all, you could have simply pulled a muscle. There are many probable causes for this pain so if it worsens or does not go away, please see a physician. Hope this helps!
