Westie in pain? help!?

My dog (Westie) had LBD last year and had an operation. He had been hopping a bit after it, but not in pain. We brought him to the beach yesterday where he was digging the sand and gave him chicken for dinner afterward. This morning he was bearly able to walk, kept needing to lie down and then vomited (bright yellow, no food) rushed himt o our vet, vet gave him an injection for the pain, nothing too strong because it may upset his stomach, fast him for 24hours and give him Calpol for infants for the next 3-5days. She sai he may be drowsy from painkiller, but what i am worried about is, that he is crying all day and i can hear his stomach rumbling… it can’t be becaus eihe is fasting because i usually feed him in 1 hours time every other day. I she in pain? Is this normal?
LBD is a bone deficiency in dogs, he had a operation where they cut abit of his bone away, it can lead to arthritis in the furture if not corrected.
