Why does Advil/Ibuprofen hurt your stomach when it is taken on an empty stomach?

Why does Advil aka Ibuprofen hurt your stomach when you haven’t eaten anything? I’m 14 and I have really bad knee pain due to a condition that I don’t know how to spell haha. Sometimes in the morning I don’t eat breakfast and take Advil. In about 8-10 minutes my stomach starts to hurt… why? Please answer I’m really curious Thanks!!

ibuprofen stops the production of some substances that help heal the stomach after gastric acid erosion. owing to this, pharmacists will always advice you to take it with food as food can dilute out the gastric acid, thus reducing the erosion in the stomach.
