UTI??? Doctor asking if I could be pregnant…?

I had slight discomfort while peeing on Saturday. Never had a UTI, so not sure what it feels like. So I went and grabbed some cranberry juice. But I started having pains similiar to PMS, but it shouldn’t be coming b/c I just ended not even two weeks ago. So lower stomach pains, and back aches. I started to freak out that I had let the UTI go and it was causing kidney damage. I went to the doctor today and did a urine sample, said the levels of my leukocytes and nitrite weren’t really there, slight UTI tho. However did find traces of blood in my urine that could of been caused by the infection. He then went to feel my stomach and back and asked if I thought I could be pregnant. We had been trying and last month I was a week late on my period, and I had taken a test a few days before I started and it was negative. What does everyone think? Why am i having cramping/
he only gave me 3 pills as treatment….

Your cramping and abdominal discomfort could be from bladder spasms. These are common during UTI. You can ask your physician for meds for this. Continue drinking lots and lots of water and cranberry juice. Always wipe from front to back after using the bathroom. Void before/after sex. All of these things help keep bad bacteria from building up in your urinary tract. Staying well hydrated helps a lot. If you continue having signs/symptoms of UTI, notify your doc. Repeat a pregnancy test after your next missed period if you still think you may be pregnant.
