Haven’t had a bowel movement in days thanks to vicodin. Now having horrible stomach pains. What do I do?

I got my wisdom teeth out on Monday morning. I haven’t had a bowel movement since Sunday. The first two days all I had to eat was soup and jello. On Christmas Eve, I had a little bit of fettuccine alfredo. Christmas, I ate solid food for the first time including raw vegetables, some turkey, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole. Yesterday I had soup and cereal. It’s been six days since I had a bowel movement and my stomach hurts so bad I can’t sleep. I tried to drink some Metamucil to help but I immediately vomited (four times). I understand that vicodin is an opiate and prevents you from going. However, the right side of my mouth is still in much pain and I do not want to stop taking them. Anything I can do?
My stomach is cramping up and I feel like vomiting again…

same thing happened to me…2-3 tall glasses of prune juice did the trick. i was on the toilet within 30 minutes!

i also read…’vicodin has Hydrocodone and tylenol in it, and hydrocodone causes constipation. it has been one week since the surgery. are you still in pain needing the vicodin?? if you are not in pain, then you would not need to take it, and there would be no constipation. vicodin is only a pain killer, it would not help with the healing process. if the pain can be controled with Plain Tylenol, then you would not get constipation from it.. put it simply, use less of the vicodin or don’t use it if you don’t need it’.

and according tohttp://healthquest.name/about_vicodin :
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
•constipation
•dizziness, drowsiness
•confusion
•gas or heartburn
•nausea, vomiting
•dry mouth
•itching
•flushing
•pinpoint pupils
