severe abdominal pain high alt
cirrhosis and hep. b question? blood Alt and Ast?
Can a person with Alt at 85 and Ast at 48 develop Cirrhosis with this level, considering that the person is HbeAg positive.
What would be another serious consequences of having Hep B chronic when blood does not show very high level but patient has other symptoms live: severe abdominal pain, fatigue, chest and back pain (mid and lower), swollen abdomen, tiredness, loos of memory and depression.
I appreciate your opinion. Website are too hard to understand
Usually, cirrhosis develops after many years of having hepatitis B and it is not related to the ALT or AST levels. Your transaminases (ALT, AST) would be more relevant to your being HBeAg positive. HBeAg positive means that the hepatitis virus is actively replicating inside your body and that you are infectious. At this point, it would be wise to have a HBV-DNA test done to check for your viral load (how much hep B virus you have). Considering that you are HBeAg positive, have a slightly elevated ALT level which means that you body is still mounting a response to the virus and if you have elevated HBV-DNA levels, then you are a candidate for treatment.
Patients with hepatitis may have some of the symptoms that you have mentioned. What concerns me is that these symptoms are also seen as a complication of cirrhosis. Fatigue, swollen abdomen (ascitis), changes in your mental status (hepatic encephalopathy), just to name a few. It would be wise to go to a doctor.
