my daughter has severe,constant right upper abdominal pain. what could it be?

gallbladder removed last year, EGD negative last week. Gastro Doctor says it’s Functional Pain? no cure. no relief and no ideas. She is 23 years old and absolutely miserable. Her sister and I are both nurses and we can’t figure it out either. Any Ideas?

Is there any possibility that she is pregnant? Did they rule out ectopic pregnancy?

I assume that her family doctor did some testing? Did they do an ultrasound of her common bile duct? You might want to have that checked, as the ‘stub’ of the duct could be blocked. As you know, even though the gallbladder has been removed, you can still get stones and sometimes they block the CBD with sludge or a stone.

I would suggest that you request an ultrasound.

If this is nothing but functional pain, than an increase in fiber and water should help her get through it.
