stomach pain tender touch
Horrendous Pain in My Stomach… Help!?
This doesn’t happen often, but when it does it hurts so much i’d rather rip out my stomach than suffer with it… it’s unbearable.
I can usually feel it coming on, my stomach gets really tender to the touch, and I feel really full. It usually hits fully when I am asleep, and it wakes me out of a dead sleep. My stomach hurts so badly, it’s even more tender, and it feels even fuller… like it’s gonna pop! The pain is unlike any I have ever felt, absolutely indescribable. It’s right under my diaphragm, directly where my stomach is… any ideas on what it could be?
It doesn’t get worse with eating, but if I eat too much it hurts. I took Gas-X for a long time and that worked well… IDK what it is, I have only had it flare up on me 3 times in the past 9 months but Oh dear God the pain.
Sounds like either GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) or possibly a peptic ulcer. I’m not just downgrading your symptoms to “heartburn”. Does it get worse with eating? Next time you feel it take a few TUMS and see if it gets better, if so then the pain is associated with stomach acid. When you lie down at night the acid is also more likely to reflux into your esophagus, especially if you had a large or fatty meal within an hour or two of bedtime. Your doctor will probably prescribe a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) which decreases stomach acid.
If they are concerned it is a gastric ulcer or that this has been going on for a long time, they may want to send you to a GI doctor to do an EGD (esogogastricduodenoscopy) where they put a camera down your throat while under anasthesia to look and possibly to take biopsies of your stomach. It is treated with antibiotics because it is often due to infection by H. pylori. Long-time reflux can lead to something called Barret’s esophagus which you can google if you want more information.
