Cleared Cervicitis, but still bleeding.?

I went to the doctor because i had pain during intercourse, bleeding after sex, and spotting and abdominal pain. I went to the doctor they found that i had chlamydia, and resulted in cervicitis.They gave me two types of medication to clear both infections up. It is now 3 weeks later, and i’m still having spotting. I havent had sex, so i dont know if im having any pain down there, but i called the doctor and im waiting for them to get back to me. I have an iud, ive had it for a year and a half already. Has anyone been thru this problem or know of this problem?

I would question your doctors decision to keep your IUD in while you were infected with chlamydia and had cervicitis. He/she should have removed the IUD until the infection has cleared up. You should no longer be a candidate for an IUD either. They do place IUDs in women who have had a STD. You may end up with PID. They removed IUDs after infection because the IUD itself may carry an infection. I would most certainly talk to your doctor. Bleeding is not a good sign. The antibiotics could have screwed up your cycle. You should always make sure to constantly use condoms as well. Since obviously an IUD does not prevent them.
