I have sharp pains on my lower left , what is it?

The comes and goes. It was usually quick like a lightening bolt…but recently it has lasted longer…I checked out apendicitus and other things…but I have no other symptoms…just random especially when I lay down or sit up. Can anyone clarify?

*note i have no other symptoms ie:constipation, fever, chills, etc. AND I have no problem going to the bathroom…at least that I know of. =)

Your large intestine takes a sharp curve in the lower left quadrant of your abdomoen and what you’re describing could very well be diverticulitis. Diverticuli are small “pouches” that develop in the intestine and they might get something you ate in them and it gets infected and produces pain. Usually the culprit is nuts, popcorn, corn, or seeds. If you get a low grade fever (like 99F) you should see a doctor. If your abdomen is tender when you press it, it might very well be diverticulitis. You can try taking a laxative and drinking alot of water. Sometimes that will clean out the diverticuli. Also, take a couple aspirin with food. This will help the pain and the inflammation (Tylenol will not help inflammation) If you’re still having pain in a couple of days, go to the doc. Godloveya.
