abdominal pain allergies
What could be wrong with my son…he has EXTREME light sensitivity, abdominal pain, coughing and lethargy?
He is also having sleep disturbances and throat pain and the light sensitivity effects mostly his eyes but also his skin. He can’t even go outside to play without keeping his whole body covered from the sun. If not, he starts itching like crazy.
The doctors can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong with him and they keep sending him home with wishy-washy answers like…”Maybe it’s a cat allergy” or “Perhaps it’s the start of migraines.”
Does anyone have an idea of what this could be? Could it be Lupus or Porphyrea?
He’s about to turn 12 years old, and he isn’t on any medications. He is on the autistic spectrum (very high functioning), but we are quite careful with his diet and the types of chemicals we allow in his environment.
You should go get a second opinion from a good pediatrician. Did his doctor even bother to order a blood test? How about sending him to an allergist? I don’t know anything about Porphyrea, but I know that Lupus is associated with light sensitivity. I once had a neighbor who had Lupus, and we had a dog who had it too. There are ways to rule out things like leukemia and diagnose auto-immune diseases with tests. Please find a new doctor – and if you have good medical insurance, I would recommend finding somebody at a children’s hospital or a teaching hospital.
