abdominal pain pineapple
White substance with stool?
All day today I’ve been experiencing mild lower abdominal pain, accompanied by several trips to the toilet. I have had mild diarrhea, along with this strange white substance, separate from the stool, that looks rather a ball of animal fur. I don’t know what it is and am very concerned. I haven’t really changed anything in my diet recently, although over the past few days I have eaten quite a bit of fruit salad (pineapple, honeydew, watermelon, cantaloupe, and grapes). What could be the cause of this? I am otherwise in good health. Thanks.
It does look like mucus. Should I see a doctor?
Your colon has a mucus lining and when you eat a lot of roughage, like the fruits you mention, it can actually scrape the lining off and you’ll poop little mucus balls. Take a close look next time and see if that is what they are. The pain in your abdomen is from whatever has irritated the lining of your colon, so maybe back off a little on all the fruit for a few days and give your guts a rest.
