upper and lower abdominal pain?

I have been having on and off upper abdominal pain mainly at night so bad that it is hard to fall back to sleep for about a year…now I am also having some during the day also with lower abdominal pain and in the morning 5-7 bowel movements in the first 2-3 hours I am awake. some days it is borderline diarrhea other days some constipation. I always feel some relief after going. I have a history of diverticuli and a sigmoidectomy but with both of those I had fevers. anyone else experienced anything similiar?

Do get a test done to rule out any serious problems such as ulcer. I used to have a weak stomach and had suffered from severe spasms and pain, so bad that the only thing I could do is to curl up like a ball.
