How long do mono symptoms last?! (especially throat)?

I ended up in the ER Christmas night because of constant abdominal pain and nausea. A pediatrician finally looked at me and tested for mono. I have a severe case of mono that caused hepatitis (serious inflammation of my liver) and a four day hospital stay. My throat hurts SO bad, which I know is normal, but when is it going to get better?! The white pus on the sides of my throat keep getting bigger, not smaller. I’ve been using the chloraseptic spray which helps a little, but it seems to be getting worse each day. I am a 17 year old junior female heading into a new term with new teachers, and I’m just wondering when I’m going to be feeling better & able to talk again…
and please no smart mouth comments about “kissing disease.” That’s not the case… the last time I kissed anyone was well before the incubation period…I share drinks with friends and things a lot…please just spare the jokes =)

Mononucleosis, also called “mono,” is a common viral illness that can leave you feeling tired and weak for weeks or months. Mono goes away on its own, but lots of rest and good self-care can help you feel better.

Depending on how you take care of yourself, mono can last for a few weeks or a few months
