ulcerative colitis abdominal pain

Why would I have a slightly increased white blood cell count and slightly decreased kidney function?

I went to the emergency room the other day with and pain in my lower back (right about where my kidneys are). The doctor gave me some prednisone and percocet and told me to visit my personal doctor. The ER doctor said that I may have either ulcerative or ’s . I have been to the ER once before for this, but my back didn’t hurt.

When I went to see my doctor, he said that I had a slightly high white blood cell count (15) and that my kidney function was slightly decreased. Instead of sending me to the GI specialist that the ER doctor recommended, he is sending me to a kidney specialist tomorrow.

Does anyone who is qualified have any idea what is going on and how serious this is? I am 21 and in otherwise good health.

You may have had a kidney stone or some type of kidney infection. Did they say there was blood in your urine microscopically; if they did, it is probabaly a stone. If they did not find any blood , it is probably some type of infection.
