abdominal pain aching

What might be causing this: upper abdominal diffuse pain (dull ache), that is not effected by the in-take of?

food, or is influenced by bowel movements. The pain comes on and is consistent for about a week and then goes away for about two months, only to return again. With the dull ache is a burning sensation and a low grade nausea and over-all sickly feeling. Like I said, it is pretty much non-stop for a week. What could be the cause of this?

Try to keep a journal each day, so you can see if there is a cause and effect. Other than that, bite the bullet and see the doctor for the barium, upper GI series.
