causes of left sided abdominal pain
What could cause severe abdominal pain on the left side?
This morning when I woke up, I felt a cramp on the left side of my abdomen, but it only lasted for a few seconds. Then, in the afternoon, the pain started up again, but it became more severe. As I was trying to have a bowel movement to see if that would ease the pain, I could feel ongoing waves of cramp-like pain a little above and to the left of my belly button. When I finished passing the stool the pain gradually abated until there was no discomfort.
The pain I felt was a heavy, cramp that came in waves of maybe 20 seconds, and at some points, left me unable to even talk. After having a bowel movement, the pain subsided. What could have caused this?
I’m no doctor, but I have Crohn’s disease. This sounds like the symptoms I had when I first started to get it. Since I’m not a doctor, obviously I’m not diagnosing you and it very well might not be it.
Anyway, this is the reason I’m answering. I went a few years before I was diagnosed and I was going to my doctor quite a few times. If your regular doctor doesn’t know after a bit, I suggest going to see a specialist in gastroenterology to find out. I wish I had done so.
