acute hiv symptoms?

after unprotected sex with a girl from a hostel in europe i started to have this weird tired feeling. This continued and about 10 days later I developed diarrhea, loss of appetite (basically i felt that if i ate i would throw up, so that could be considered nausea but i did never throw up, possibly because i never ate), tired still, and swollen lymph nodes (or im just paranoid, but i do feel pea sized bumps in my groin area). I do not have a rash, or a sore throat. Its been about 12 more days and i have mostly regained my appetite but still have the watery diarrhea. I do not have abdominal pains or anything. I am pretty paraniod but with no sore throat or rash i dont know. i have lost about 7 pounds as well. what worried me so much is when searching persistent diarrea all of this hiv things popped up. my question is do you think these are legitimate symptoms to be paranoid of hiv. either way diarrhea for 2 weeks cannot be good. what could i have, i know i need to see a doctor

It sounds to me that you have a case of Montezuma’s Revenge…very common when you go to a foreign country and your body is not accustomed to different methods of food preparation.

Even if you contracted HIV, you would not get sick so quickly unless your immune system was severly impaired (even that is unlikely).

I don’t think I really need to explain Montezuma’s Revenge but I will in case you don’t know what it is…basically, it’s the runs.

You don’t say if you live in Europe or if you are an American (or whatever) who was on vacation. Because of the dehydration that can result from MR, I advise you to see a doctor. When you get back home, I also suggest you get tested for all STDs, including HIV. You should know better than to have unprotected sex. I hope you learn from this.
