Instead of my regular period I’ve had a brown and sometimes bloody discharge, should I worry?

When it was time for my period I expierienced my usual cramps and I even started to bleed a little bit. But the next day I had a thick brown discharge and was passing clots the size of golf balls. This went on for 2 days and since there was blood in it too I just thought it was old blood or something. Over the next 2 days the discharge became more watery and brown with only small bits of tissue. This has now been going on for over a week and I am really getting scared. The amount of discharge I am expieriencing has decreased but it still isn’t stopping. My regular periods usually only last for about 4 days. And I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but a couple nights ago I expierienced painful upper abdominal pain that would come and go in sharp pangs. Please someone help me. Is this normal or should I be scared?

see a gyno and get a pelvic exam. my friends mom had a blood clot down there and needed operation.
