What do these symptoms mean?
- On again/off again abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Bile leaking from anal sphincter
My mom has IBS, but the bile thing has never happened to her. But could I still have it? Or something else?

It can stil be a flareup of IBS, but may also be somethign else, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or infectious diarrhea, or inflammation like colitis. Has she been on antibiotics recently? If yes, this could be the cause as well. What she needs it to have her stool sample checked for infections, ova and parasites, C.difficile (also a bug) as well as for blood. She might also need a sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy (looking inside the bowel), plus minus CT scan of her abdomen. Take her to GP or to emergency. Gud luk to both of you!
