morphine abdominal pain management
Abdominal Pain After Gallbladder surgery??
I got my Gallbladder out 8/9/07, and its just just been one thing after another. Im still in constant pain, had numerous ER visits, scan and blood work all of which have come back normal. I had my GB removed via Laparscopic. During the surgery my GB broke in half, which caused me to get a JP drain, Iin case any toxins spilled into my abdomen; then awoke in the recovery room screaming in pain, was given 8mg of morphine and it didnt do a thing for me, so after I got back to my room and given a better pain med, I found out that my bile duct got a hole in it and I had to get a stent placed into the duct to stop it. A long story short, Im still in pain, it can range from mild to severe, the doctors don’t know what is causing the pain. My JP site has opened up twice, which doctors say it could be from a collection, or a stitch that isnt dissolving. I don’t know, Im at a loss. I now attend pain management where I get trigger point injections.Does anyone have input?
I had my gallbladder removed, by laparoscopy, in october 2006. I couldn’t seem to wake up all day and was in severe pain when i ate the toast they gave me in recovery. They sent me home that evening. 10 days later i went to Dr because i had a large red mark on my skin where gallbladder would have been & it was burning. Dr told me it was a reaction to dressing, but i didn’t have dressing in that area, & told me it would disappear in time. Well the redness went but the pain didn’t.I couldn’t bend over properley for mths, it was a sharp achey, stabby, burning pain & sometimes it feels like a very cold dripping sensation inside too, sometimes just shower water falling on it was painful. Since then i have spent the last 16 mths to & fro the drs & hospital trying to find out what is causing the pain. I have had an Endoscopy, blood tests, bile duct scans & a barium enema, all of which showed nothing to be wrong. The consultant referred me to the pain clinic, the Dr there thinks they trapped a nerve during the op and suggested trigger injections. I had the first one & pain got about 65% better, so at next appointment he decided to not do jab & see how it went without, but by time next appointment came round it was worsening again so he did the jab. Since last jab, which was 3 wks ago, the pain seems to be worsening again. It is not as bad as it was originally but i still take prescription painkillers some days due to it.
Morphine withdrawls.8 hours into it.
