abdominal pain (surgery is scheduled)?

I have terrible terrible menstrual cramps, due to a bleeding disorder in which I have basically been having my period (bleeding constantly) since May of 2006. I am severely anemic, as you might imagine, and I take tons of vitamins and consume a lot of iron as well as supplements during the day. The doctors figured out they couldn’t fix the problem with hormones (duh) and I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy next month. After all this time, I am worn out, exhausted, and the pain is terrible. Yet my doctors will not prescribe anything like hydrocodone or darvocet or any kind of opiate derivative because of liability. I do not need these things every day; I am in pain every day but sometimes, usually in fact, about 800 mg of motrin helps. But for the severe I-can’t-walk pain, what can I do? It seems idiotic that the doctors won’t prescribe adequate pain management therapy. It’s gotten so bad I’ve thought of suicide, until they decided on the surgery. I am only 37 years old.

A hot bath… soak. Eat a banana. Drink a big cup of cold water. loose fitting clothes after your bath. Stretch out on the couch. Stress is a pain all in itself so worrying fuels the fire. I’m a guy but my girlfriend has had problems and I’ve had some issues too. It all depends on what you eat. Having an orange is like installing a new battery in your body. But oranges can upset your gut. Try different fruit and try not to worry. The better the food you eat, the better the meds will work. If you do not eat enough, the meds will not work at all.
